Handbuilding Classes

At Clayworks, donors make our community outreach possible. Donor generosity directly fuels our ability to engage and inspire our community through the free ceramics classes at libraries, community centers, schools, trauma recovery programs and more.

Beginning Handbuilding
Tuition includes:
• Open Studio time with 24/7 access to the studio
• One 25lb bag of clay provided
• Access to a variety of glazes and slips
• State of the art facility with onsite parking
• Tuition does not include firing fees
This 8-week class is designed for students who want to learn the basics of slab, pinch, and coil construction, or for students who are still developing throwing skills. Students will learn how to finish their work with decorating and glazing techniques. Many students will take this class more then once before moving on to an intermediate level class.
Clayworks reserves the right to cancel any class with insufficient enrollment. Fees are 100% refundable if the class is canceled by Clayworks, 100% refundable up to two weeks (14 days) prior to the start of class, minus a $25 processing fee, if the student cancels. No refunds or tuition credits will be given with less than two weeks’ notice.
Intermediate Handbuilding
Tuition includes:
• Open Studio time with 24/7 access to the studio
• One 25lb bag of clay provided
• Access to a variety of glazes and slips
• State of the art facility with onsite parking
• Tuition does not include firing fees
This 8-week class is designed for students who have completed beginning handbuilding and are prepared for an intermediate level class. The class will focus on more advanced handbuiding techniques and surface design treatments.
Advanced Handbuilding
Tuition includes:
• Open Studio time with 24/7 access to the studio
• One 25lb bag of clay provided
• Access to a variety of glazes and slips
• State of the art facility with onsite parking
• Tuition does not include firing fees
This 8-week class is designed for students who are intermediate or advanced level handbuilders. Classes will focus on more complex handbuilding techniques and surface techniques.
