Rebecca Jones

Rebecca was born in Charlotte, NC and graduated with a BFA in painting from East Carolina University. Rebecca studied for a summer at The New York Studio School. She traveled and lived in Berlin and New York, before returning to Charlotte in 2000. In 2002 Rebecca married Alex Clark, a painter, and in 2005 they adopted their daughter, Alexandria Tao from China. Rebecca and her family split their time between Charlotte and New Orleans.

“Four years ago, I started working almost exclusively in clay.
Although painting has long been a primary medium for me, the tactile
qualities of clay have become my preferred process to express my
ideas of light as well as dark, and the unrest and taboos of life in our
current social climate. My pieces are based on my own experiences
and observations, emphasizing or exaggerating human and animal
facial and physical expression. I make work that speaks to me, and
